Teaching Philosophy
Dance has shaped who I am, and I teach because I want my students to experience that same sense of confidence, expression, and belonging that dance gave me.
I believe technique matters, alignment, control, and musicality but I believe heart matters more. I don’t want students to just copy choreography. I want them to understand why they move, what they’re expressing, and how their voice matters in the room. My classroom is a space where students are challenged, supported, and pushed to grow both technically and emotionally.
Having choreographed over 45 pieces over the course of the last seven years, and worked with dancers of all ages, I know that every student walks in with different strengths and insecurities. My goal is to meet them where they are, build them up, and remind them that their movement has value.
More than anything, I want to create a classroom filled with discipline, creativity, and joy because dance isn’t just steps. It’s identity, resilience, and connection.
